Pain Relief

Studies indicate that light therapy in the red and near infrared range can reduce pain.

Further, some studies indicate it may have direct effects on peripheral nerves and it may modulate the levels of prostaglandins in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Pain relief mechanisms may also include reducing muscle spasms and relieving ischemia due to impaired circulation. They may also
include improving oxygenation of the tissues, removing irritants and toxins and disabling or killing pathogenic microorganisms.

Wanted to get back to you on the benefits of the Infrared Sauna on my Diverticulitis symptoms.

During an attack the pain in the lower abdominal region is excruciating. Basically there is nothing you can do but either taking multiple anti bionic’s, have an operation to remove part of your colon, or ride out the attack let your body fight off the infection and hope for the best. The worst is over in a couple of days, which isn’t much consolation as the pain is unbearable, so I decided to try the infrared sauna on the affected area to see if it would improve the symptoms and help my body fight off the inflammation. I put the sauna on a small table next to the bed and lay in front of it exposing the front side of my lower abdominal area then rolled over and exposed it from the backside three times a day for 30 minutes. I know that sounds like a lot, but the pain was so intense I couldn’t move anyway so it wasn’t an issue and the heat felt good on my body. I was surprised to find that my symptoms were greatly reduced at the end of the first day and after three more exposures on the second day the symptoms were almost gone. I felt good enough by then to resume my normal activities.

Thanks again for recommending this therapy the results were a blessing.

All the best.
